Richard Rohr's Teaching Launches First Illinois Men's Rites


Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM spoke about his new book "Things Hidden - Scripture as Spirituality on December 1st, 2007 in Chicago.

Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM spoke before a sold-out and very engaged audience at Loyola University of Chicao. Richard delved into the true meaning of scripture and highlighted his spiritual journey as a motivator for our spiritual journey.

Stephen Picha, director of Richard Rohr's Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) began the afternoon session with an introductary presentation about the Illinois Men's Rites of Passage. Men from the Illinois Men as Learners and Elders, an affiliate of Men as Learners and Elders (M.A.L.Es.)

Bill McElroy, the Illinois Men As Learners and Elders (M.A.L.E.s) Convener spoke about the Men's Rites of Passage which will be in Illinois August 13 to 17, 2008. He described that men and boys looking to grow to manhood, need initiation to make the spiritual journey. He highlighted the key benefits of doing an Adult Rites of Passage. To discover your inner calling, heal your inner wounds and find the voice of God in your life.

McElroy encouraged men to join the over 3,200 other men who have done the rites and for them to help contribute to the men's movement started by Fr. Richard Rohr. This movement calls men to serve our world as Elders and Mentors for the next generation.
